NEVER FINISHED

"All this will not be finished in the first one hundred days. Nor will it be finished in the first thousand days" ~ John F. Kennedy, Inaugural Address 1961

"All this" will never be finished. For I am an alcoholic and drug addict and always will be. The only difference today is I am in recovery. I try my best to take it one day at a time, live in the moment, and work the program.

Today marks 2 solid years without a drink or a drug. It doesn't feel any different than any other day. For "All this" will never be finished.

I can not begin to post about what has been happening this past week or should I say I can not bring myself to post what has been happening in my life. It is so very painful. Just when I thought the worst was over on Wednesday night it only got even worse yesterday. I'm not giving up. I'm not folding in my hand. I am praying. I am asking for strength and guidance. I am using every resource I have to help me. They say (and whomever "they" are I have no idea) that what does not kill you will only make you stronger. I am going to be fuck'n Lara Croft by the end of this.

Thank you to my blogger buddies for your advice and your support. Thank you for making me laugh. Thank you for everything.

And in the words of my blogger buddy Scott "For those of you who thought I'd never make it - FUCK YOU!"

Today I am grateful.....

*working out
*fresh homemade blueberry muffins
*hot ginger tea
*living two solid years of clean and sober living
*all the wonderful, beautiful, awesome souls who support me in my recovery.

I love you all and I see you all.

Dearest One,

My heart soars because every day, post or not, you inspire me to greater heights. I was just thinking about having years of sobriety, that one day when we will be called 'old timers' and have endured our ups and downs. It will be that day when we look back and say we survived, loved and conquered our fears. You are a joy in my life and I love you from the bottom of my heart. Congratulations!

I am speechless! So I'll type instead.
Do something special for YOU today. Because YOU deserve it.
No matter the problems at home and work, today you have the tools to deal with these things, otherwise known as dealing with "Life on life's terms." Know that you are not alone, unless you choose to be.
Congratulations JJ. You are a beacon, a sunbeam.

Two blessed years of freedom from the chains of active addiction. It took your Lara Croft like strength to bust free and stay free and I have no fear that you will walk right on through whatever it is you are experiencing.

Remember the power of the magic magnifying mind, focus on the problem and the problem will be magnified. Focus on the solution and that will be magnified. The choice is really up to you and I know you can do it.

Happy Birthday beautiful! Love all of you! Meg

I think it was one of my original posts that I wrote something to the effect of they say bad things come in 3's but doesnt it really depend on when you start counting!?!

Life continues to throw curve balls and you seem to be getting a lot of tosses right now... With that being said, it should make you even prouder that YOU are still in control of what your choices are. Thats huge!

The other thing I heard in your post is that inspite of what others thought you rose above. Again... huge. You value yourself and you are staying positive (or continuing to try to... )

I admire that you are true to yourself and that you have 2 years under your belt. Its wonderful that you see that this is a lifelong battle... that, like with anything we value, it will always take work.

Happy Monday! I hope its a good day for you!
